All the info you need about the Vulpine Xmas Cycling Fete…

It’s tomorrow! We’re getting over excited here at Vulpine Central Command about the upcoming Christmas Fete! After the fantastic success of our first event, we made a promise that our second one would be "bigger, betterer and funnerer" – and by the looks of the press its been getting, and what we’ve got in store, it most cetainly will be! So, here is the essential information:

Time:

3pm-9pm. Just picture the beauty of it: The dark evening drawing in with twinking lights (and there will be plenty of pretty ones) all around, the feel of a European Christmas market, and a warming glass or two of Mulled Wine or cider. Yum.

Venue:

Balham Bowls Club,

7-9 Ramsden Road, London, SW12 8QX
020 8673 4700

We held our first fete here, and the charm of Balham Bowls Club with its beautiful old wood-clad walls and knackered vintage furniture wil be perfect to create that winter wonderland feeling.

Transport:

If you’re travelling by public transport it’s a couple of minutes from Balham tube and overground train… or if your coming by bike, it’s right next to the CS7 Cycle Superhighway. ]

This time round we are able to offer bicycle parking through the lovely people at CycleHoop – hooray! Please be aware that spaces will be limited for bike parking at the venue.

If you’re coming by car, from what we have learned, parking is free on most of the side roads near the venue, however, they do tend to get quite busy.

Charity:

Vulpine and all taking part are supporting Friends of Herne Hill Velodrome, ï¬ï†ghting to save one of British cycling’s greatest icons, and birthplace of Bradley Wiggins’ career; and Rollapaluza Outreach, encouraging cycling and sport in schools. Most stallholders gave a chunky donation to be split between them.

Refreshments:

With all the excitement of the fete and there being so much to see and do, we’ve made sure that you certainly won’t go hungry or parched on the night!

London’s most popular cycling cafe and home of ITV’s The Cycle Show Look Mum No Hands! return, serving their finest coffee, tea and delicious MINCE PIES.

Three bars will be open to quench your thirst with one upstairs in the venue and two downstairs, including the original Balham Bowls Club bar. Delicious posh but reasonably priced hot food will also be available during the event.

There will be mulled wine and cider and various quality ales and things to make you feel drifty (booze) or not (softs).

Vulpine:

Our full range wil be available to try on, have a feel of and buy at the fete. We’ll also be bringing our new gift vouchers. And you can meet the people and ‘models’ behind Vulpine too. We’re dead nice, innit.

Oh, and Lily the Jack Russell will be there, provided licks, if required.

Entertainment:

The added the bonus of the fete being on later means more atmosphere for Rollapaluza roller-racing! There will be finals for Men and Women and for the kids. The session will run as an open qualifier all day long until 17:00 when the finals start, as follows:

  • 17:00 Under 10s
  • 17:20 Under 12s
  • 17:40 Under 14s
  • 18:00 Under 16s
  • From 18:20 there will be further adult qualifying and at 20:20 the Men & Women’s semi-finals and finals.

The adult finals will feature Vulpine prizes.

Cycling’s most popular radio show and podcast The Bike Show will be at the fete. Jack Thurston will be there with his microphone, meeting the stallholders and talking to you. Best voices please everyone.

DJ Kill Your Idols (AKA Euan McGrath) will be providing a live set upstairs. It’ll be a very eclectic mix of music.

We are very honoured to have #FANBACKEDWOMENSTEAM at the fete! Named after the twitter hashtag created by Dave Smith, ex Team GB coach, for Stef Wyman (husband of Cyclocross National Champ Helen Wyman) and his women’s racing team. This is a project Vulpine will be part of and you can sign up to sponsor them too. Plus we’ll have some of the UK’s finest racing talent at the fete too. Stef’s 2012 team, Matrix-Prendas have Olympic gold medallists Jo Rowsell & Dani King in their colours, so fingers crossed they can make it!

Artists:

The fete will be absolutely bursting with the cream of cycling related artists this Saturday. Amongsts all the artists taking part we have Artcrank, NoBrow, Ritch Mitchelson, Anthony Oram and Rebecca Kaye, but to name a few.

Stallholders:

We have a bounty of stallholders for the event, including some new faces taking part this time round. Come along and browse around the likes of Michaux Club, CycleLove. Milk Bikes, Tokyo Fixed, The Ride, Cadence Sport and SO MANY more!

The venue to be jumping!
