The Vulpine Cycling Fete was created by Me and my wife Emmalou to bring some fun and vibrancy (and cake!) into cycling events. We wanted to create an event that both of us could enjoy, along with friends and their kids, with nobody bored or left out.

We’ll be announcing more new creative and fun things right up until the event.

The Vulpine Cycling Fete was created by my wife Emmalou and I to bring some fun and vibrancy into cycling events and shows. We wanted to create an event that both of us could enjoy, along with friends and their kids, with nobody bored or left out.

The venue, Balham Bowls Club, is a vintage-chic British pub/bar/restaurant/venue with retro-chic wood paneled walls and ironic doilies. We loved it as soon as we walked through the door.

The event is free, and welcoming of all cyclists, whatever their creed, interest or ability. We hate cliques! It will be fun for non-cyclists too. And there’s even kids stuff.

Add in bunting, cake stalls, tea, coffee, beer garden, BBQ, artists and a host of entertainment including live graffiti from The Toaster and Roller Racing for all ages from Rollapaluza and you’ve got a great way for everyone to celebrate design, entrepreneurialism and cycling.

The venue is huge, but will be packed with stalls from the leading young lights in cycling business and design. Vulpine isn’t charging anyone anything to attend, or to have a stall. We understand how hard it is starting a new business, so why not combine our resources as a community to make something bigger and better together rather than struggling separately?

We’ve got artists who love their cycling, from the much loved Rouleur illustrator Rich Mitchelson, the charm of Philip Deacon and the more serious urban Will Barras.

We have only asked that every brand or artist contributes something to our auction/tombola in aid of cycling charities Wheels For Wellbeing (supporting disabled people to cycle) and Rollapaluza Outreach (bringing cycling and fitness to the disadvantaged).

Best Road Bike winner at Bespoked Bristol, Ricky Feather of Feather Cycles, is making a unique Vulpine bicycle from stainless steel, with all kinds of innovative features, for the event. His equally talented ‘rival’ Tom Donhue has promised silly games on his stall, and man of the companies and people involved are creating their own little fun things!

There is so much going on, and so many people involved its impossible to mention them all. But we will be announcing even more, and highlighting as many as we can over the next seven weeks before the event.

See you at the Vulpine stall, unless I’m having ANOTHER go on Rollapaluza! Oh, and we’re bring Lily the Jack Russell, for all Lily fans.

Fete poster artwork is by respected illustrator/traveller/really good looking chap George Butler.

Balham Bowls Club is 2 minutes walk from Balham Northern Line Tube and mainline rail, is on a Cycle Super Highway and is a very
pleasant and accessible ride via Richmond Park, Battersea Park and Clapham Common.

  1. A simple, but probably stupid question. We plan to come on our bikes. Will there be space to lock them up somewhere safely?
