A 2nd cat road racer, advised by Robert Millar, and his beloved jersey collection.

Andy Edwards is a second category road racer and friend. He’s the road race champion of my club, Kingston Wheelers and a fellow junior racing contemporary of mine. Though I doubt we raced together. He’s better!

Cycling Weekly has featured him a few times, including the cover, as he resurrected a racing career from the Eighties.

Amazingly, he gets training advice from his great hero (and one of mine, of course), legend Robert Millar. Andy doesn’t like people mentioning that too much, as Robert is not one for the limelight, but it’s TOO DAMNED COOL not to say!

Andy has a beloved and extensive jersey collection. These photos don’t do it justice, and there are far more than I could include here.

Watch out for Michael Barry’s signed Team Sky jersey! Other ‘favourites’ include my vote (sorry Andy) for worst ever pro jersey, Le Groupement, as worn (very briefly, it folded) by Millar and Graeme Obree. The cover images shows my three personal favourites. All Italian…

  1. The Gitane jersey was what became Renault Elf Gitane. So that was Hinault and Lucian Van Impe in the 70s. The Bar Italia one was for Soho CC a club that existed in London in the 1980s, very cool jersey.
