Beloved artist/illustrator and British cycling institution, Rich Mitchelson, famous for his depictions of road racing greats in Rouleur Magazine, has created a fond and humorous take on the Royal Commemorative Gift for the Vulpine Cycling Fete. Designed especially for the event, only 50 commemorative tea-towels are being made and are only be available at the Fete
Here we can see Queen Elizabeth the II riding her favourite vintage road bike along the blue route that leads to Balham Bowls Club, venue for the Vulpine Cycling Fete, pictured against the London skyline.
So what does cycling's lovliest bloke have to say?
"I decided to create this limited editon tea towel to celebrate the Vulpine Cycling Fete and my love of cycling. Why not draw our Queen on a bike cycling on a bright blue cycle super highway i thought! I am working with talented screen printer Dan Mather to create 50 ltd edition tea towels that will be sold exclusively at the Vulpine Cycling Fete for the price of £10 each. I'm really looking forward to seeing people's reaction, and exhibiting loads of my work at the Fete."
Am I pleased he's done this as a one-off for the Vulpine Cycling Fete? I'm overjoyed! The Fete just gets bigger and better every day and there's so much enthusiasm and fun oozing from the things people are doing. This is a perfect example of that. Its going to be an amazing day, there's so much more to come.
Watch, as they say, this space. Just two and a bit weeks to go!
