I spent an afternoon with Ricky Feather of Feather Cycles, a man who's gained an extraordinary reputation in an incredibly short time.
Working out of his Father in law's shed, with licky rescue Whippet Ozzy for company, he is creating intricate, innovative, yet classicly beautiful frames from steel, especially Stainless Steel. Mmm, shiny.
I popped on the train to York and rode the incredibly flat (Yorkshire?!) 12 miles into the countryside to have a natter about what we would do. Ricky doesn't make many frames, and I am genuinely honoured that he has agreed to create a Vulpine stainless steel frame for me. This will replace the Colnago, now gone to pastures new.
More on the specification as Ricky and I develop it, but he's got some great ideas. I am wildly excited.
Now to wait...Next up, CAD designs. Will keep you informed.
HELL YES!
You can check out Ricky's, and a great many other incredible Framebuilding Artisan's work at Bespoked Bristol, The Handmade Bicycle Show, in a few weeks. See you there.
